Deck overview

Zidane, Tantalus Thief leads a political Boros deck blending temporary creature theft, hot-potato permanent donation, and blink synergies. The game plan centers on deploying gifting pieces like Humble Defector, Yes Man, Personal Securitron, and Alexios, Deimos of Kosmos, turning their symmetric exchange into asymmetric mana acceleration via Zidane's Treasure generation. Meanwhile, temporary theft effects (Claim the Firstborn, Mass Mutiny, Zealous Conscripts) disrupt opposing boards, with blink spells like Cloudshift and Restoration Angel allowing you to retain stolen creatures permanently under your control. Forced-combat engines such as Disrupt Decorum and Alexios compel opponents to whittle down each other's life totals. The deck converts its accumulated Treasure cache and stolen attackers into a decisive win through double-strike combat with Swashbuckler Extraordinaire, direct sacrifice damage with Brion Stoutarm and Fling, or a table-sweeping Insurrection. While vulnerable to creature-light opponents and devoid of nonland tutors, its dense card flow and high synergy sustain persistent mid-game pressure.
