Deck overview

This deck is a Dimir Horror tribal and mill-theft control strategy led by Captain N'ghathrod. It aims to deploy low-cost Horrors early, hit land drops reliably through a 38-land base, and cast its commander on Turn 5. Captain N'ghathrod grants menace to all Horrors and triggers mill on combat damage, stealing the best milled creature or artifact during the end step. The deck escalates its threat level on Turn 6 with devastating mill engines such as The Mindskinner and Consuming Aberration, or control bombs like Hullbreaker Horror. While it lacks infinite combos and fast mana, the deck protects its lead and controls the table with a dense suite of 24 instant-speed counterspells and removal spells. It closes out games on Turn 9 through sustained mill depletion and combat damage from stolen opposing threats.
