Deck overview

Ozai, the Phoenix King leads a Rakdos big-mana deck focused on aggressive combat steps and explosive damage output. The strategy centers on Ozai's ability to retain unspent mana across steps and phases as red mana, alongside firebending triggers that generate burst mana during attacks. Early turns accelerate mana through low-cost artifacts and rituals like Dark Ritual, Sol Ring, and Talisman of Indulgence. By turn 5, Ozai attacks with haste and trample, generating four red mana and banking six or more mana to gain flying and indestructible. The deck converts this massive mana surplus into game-ending burn spells such as Comet Storm and Jaya's Immolating Inferno, or continuous attack phases via Aggravated Assault and Neheb, the Eternal. Free and low-cost redirect spells, including Deflecting Swat and Bolt Bend, protect key permanents during deployment. While vulnerable to early targeted removal and mass exile wipes, the deck maintains high resilience through redundant mana reservoirs and secondary combat finishers.
