Deck overview

This mono-black Aristocrats deck leverages Avacyn, Angel of Horror to turn standard sacrifice synergies into an asymmetric board lock. The early game focuses on ramping through rocks and dark rituals while accumulating card advantage through engines like Braids, Arisen Nightmare, Morbid Opportunist, and The One Ring. Upon resolving Avacyn, the deck establishes an oppressive loop: nontoken sacrifice creatures such as Plaguecrafter and Fleshbag Marauder return to the battlefield on every player's end step. This strips opposing boards of creatures four times per table rotation while repeatedly triggering drain staples like Blood Artist, Bastion of Remembrance, and Zulaport Cutthroat. High-impact payoffs such as Gray Merchant of Asphodel and Living Death provide rapid bursts of damage to clean up remaining life totals.
