Deck overview

This deck is an Esper spellslinger and attrition deck commanded by Y'shtola, Night's Blessed. It focuses on casting noncreature spells with mana value 3 or greater to burn all opponents for 2 damage, gain life, and draw an extra card at each end step when players lose 4 or more life. Supported by a suite of Final Fantasy crossover characters, the deck supplements Y'shtola's passive drain with token generation from Hermes, Overseer of Elpis and Champions from Beyond, as well as tax effects from Kambal, Consul of Allocation and Ghostly Prison. The deck controls the board using premier Esper removal like Swords to Plowshares, Void Rend, Anguished Unmaking, and Toxic Deluge. While it lacks fast combo finishes and universal tutors, it steadily grinds down opponents' life totals through incremental spell triggers and evasive combat before closing the game with Exsanguinate or a kicked Rite of Replication.
