Deck overview

This deck is a 5-color Spellslinger combo engine helmed by Codie, Ravenous Codex, built around the prepare mechanic. It utilizes a wide variety of modal prepare creatures whose spell halves represent iconic effects like Seething Song, Ancestral Recall, Demonic Tutor, and Channel. When cast, these spells are doubled by Codie's triggered ability. The deck rapidly ramps on early turns with efficient mana dorks and rocks, deploys Codie and prepare creatures by Turn 4, and launches a lethal combo turn on Turn 5. By copying powerful rituals or using Yavimaya Bloomsage // Channel to generate massive mana, it draws through the deck and casts a lethal, copied Torment of Hailfire or Stensian Sanguinist // Exsanguinate. A world-class interaction and protection suite featuring Fierce Guardianship, Deflecting Swat, Grand Abolisher, and Silence ensures the deck can reliably defend its combo turn while disrupting faster opponents.
