Deck overview

The deck's central plan is to cast Sauron, the Dark Lord, let opposing spells build an Army, attack to tempt the Ring, and use the discard-four ability to refill the hand. This creates a durable value engine when Sauron survives, but it is slow because the deck relies mostly on land drops and includes several tapped lands. The list has useful spot removal, counterspells, bounce, recursion, and a few protection effects. Its main weakness is that it does not convert its Army and card flow into a reliable table finish. Glamdring, Whispersilk Cloak, Shaun, Father of Synths, and The Apprentice's Folly can improve combat output, but they need separate mana and do not solve the three-opponent damage requirement. The deck is therefore a general-power Commander strategy: it can generate advantage and threaten a growing board, but it does not reliably assemble a fast win, sustained lock, or compact backup plan.
