Deck overview

This mono-black Commander deck is led by Marrow-Gnawer, aiming to overwhelm opponents with an exponential swarm of evasive Rat tokens backed by aristocrat drain. The early game focuses on establishing low-mana Rat creatures such as Burglar Rat, Pack Rat, and Lord Skitter, Sewer King while disrupting opposing hands. Once Marrow-Gnawer lands on Turn 5, it grants all Rats fear and activates on Turn 6 to double the board presence each turn cycle. The deck converts wide boards into decisive victories through massive tribal stat multipliers like Coat of Arms, toxic counters via Karumonix, the Rat King, or direct life-drain effects from Mirkwood Bats, Bastion of Remembrance, and Gruesome Fate. While heavily resilient against ground blockers due to built-in fear and menace, the strategy is vulnerable to mass creature board wipes and relies on natural top-decks for noncreature payoffs.
