Format: Commander

Commander: Rootha, Mastering the Moment

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

Rootha, Mastering the Moment is a spells-matter token commander: cast a high-mana-value instant or sorcery before combat, and Rootha supplies a hasty flying Elemental token whose power matches that spell. The deck accelerates through treasures, engines like Storm-Kiln Artist, red rituals, and cheap card selection, then finishes with repeated extra combats, Insurrection, or Mizzix's Mastery. The hidden commander in the 99 is Sakashima of a Thousand Faces, which can copy Rootha and double the token trigger. The commander is not double-faced; modal cards such as Primal Amulet and Ashling are only utility pieces.
