Deck overview

Karolina Dean, Runaway commands a five-color midrange deck designed to exploit casting spells from exile and non-hand zones. Karolina provides a massive mana engine, producing {W}{U}{B}{R}{G} during every first main phase that can only be spent on non-hand spells and abilities. The deck converts this condition into raw card and mana velocity through dense impulse-draw spells, foretell cards, cascade effects, and airbend mechanics. Once assembled on Turn 4, the deck uses this five-mana surplus to establish a commanding presence by Turn 6, triggering devastating burn and creature scaling from Flaming Tyrannosaurus, Nico Minoru, Runaway, and The War Doctor, while Iraxxa, Empress of Mars and Fire Lord Zuko construct a lethal combat board. While the list recovers well from removal and features potent mass protection, its reliance on creature-based payoffs and a low density of instant-speed disruption leave it vulnerable to fast opposing combo strategies.
