Deck overview

This mono-black cEDH deck leverages Sephiroth, Fabled SOLDIER as both an early card advantage engine and a built-in combo finisher in the command zone. The primary strategy accelerates into deterministic infinite drain loops utilizing Phyrexian Altar alongside recursive creatures like Forsaken Miner or Gravecrawler. With explosive mana velocity from rituals (Dark Ritual, Culling the Weak) and artifact acceleration (Mana Vault, Sol Ring), the deck regularly attempts game-ending plays on Turn 3. It utilizes premier card-advantage engines including Ad Nauseam, Necropotence, and Bolas's Citadel to overwhelm opposing interaction and assemble redundant combo pieces. Highly impactful hate permanents such as Opposition Agent, Dauthi Voidwalker, and Orcish Bowmasters constrain opponents while Defense Grid and Imp's Mischief protect combo execution windows. Even if disrupted, strong reanimation engines and deep functional redundancy allow the deck to pivot smoothly and win without relying strictly on its commander.
