Deck overview

This Esper Zombie deck helmed by Varina, Lich Queen combines aggressive tribal token swarming, combat looting, and mass reanimation. The deck curves out early with low-cost Zombies and artifact ramp, deploying Varina on Turn 4 to convert every Zombie attack into card selection, life gain, and graveyard stocking. Discarded creatures fuel both Varina's activated token creation and powerful mass reanimation spells like Living Death, Zombie Apocalypse, and Bloodline Bidding. Midgame board dominance is established through devastating asymmetric board-clearing effects from Archfiend of Ifnir and Noxious Ghoul. Once a massive Zombie army is assembled or reanimated on Turn 6, the deck closes the game on Turn 7 by granting evasion with Hordewing Skaab or On Wings of Gold, combining combat damage with life-drain triggers from Wayward Servant, Corpse Knight, and The Scarab God. A resilient package of countermagic and hexproof protection shields the engine against opposing disruption.
