Format: Commander

Commander: Captain Howler, Sea Scourge

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

Captain Howler, Sea Scourge is a discard-payoff beatstick, but the deck's actual engine is an Izzet wheel-burn synergy. It wins by setting up two of three drain engines-Cool but Rude at level 2, Glint-Horn Buccaneer, or Magmakin Artillerist-then deploying a wheel effect that discards a seven-card hand, dealing 21 damage to each opponent. Rielle, the Everwise acts as a hidden commander, turning every discard into extra cards, while Talrand and Murmuring Mystic provide token backup. Captain Howler offers an alternate commander-damage route when opponents shut off incidental damage. Loot spells such as Faithless Looting and Tolarian Winds churn through the deck to find the required pieces.
