Thalia and the Gitrog Monster by Sereus

Format: Commander

Commander: Thalia and The Gitrog Monster

Bracket: 4

Deck overview

Thalia and The Gitrog Monster leads an Abzan stax and land-attrition strategy that suffocates opposing mana while accelerating its own development. The deck uses taxing permanents, resource denial, and tap effects to bring the table to a crawl. The commander breaks parity naturally by providing an extra land drop per turn and converting spare lands or creatures into card draw on attacks. The primary path to victory locks opponents out completely using Karn, the Great Creator alongside Mycosynth Lattice to shut off all opposing mana. Secondary lines leverage Strip Mine loops with graveyard recursion engines, or infinite mill and Zombie swarms using The Gitrog Monster, The Necrobloom, and Dakmor Salvage.
