Deck overview

This deck is a focused Selesnya Voltron build pairing Wilson, Refined Grizzly with the Noble Heritage Background. Wilson provides an exceptional keyword suite—trample, reach, vigilance, ward {2}, and uncounterability—while Noble Heritage reliably grows him by two +1/+1 counters each turn and offers player protection from opponents who accept counters. The deck accelerates Wilson's clock using double strike enablers such as Flaming Fist and Duelist's Heritage, along with counter doublers like Branching Evolution and Hydra's Growth, threatening 21 commander damage in one or two hits. To protect its single-threat investment, the list runs an extensive package of cheap 1-mana protection spells including Blacksmith's Skill, Loran's Escape, and Tyvar's Stand, complemented by hatebears like Gaddock Teeg and Hushbringer to hinder opposing combos. It closes games by eliminating opponents one by one in rapid succession.
