Deck overview

This mono-black control deck uses Maha, Its Feathers Night to turn minor -1/-1 effects into one-sided board wipes. Setting all opposing creatures to base toughness 1 allows low-cost spells like Night Clubber, Suffocating Fumes, and Kaervek, the Spiteful to clear opposing creatures continuously while leaving your board unharmed. Accelerated by mana rocks and black rituals, Maha enters on turn 4, setting up decisive board control on turn 5. The deck transitions from creature denial into guaranteed finishes through the classic Exquisite Blood and Sanguine Bond infinite drain loop, overwhelming life loss from Massacre Wurm and Syr Konrad, the Grim, or a massive Torment of Hailfire. Stax pieces like Winter Moon and Dauthi Voidwalker suppress opposing resources, creating wide resource disparity. While vulnerable to noncreature spells and mass exile effects, the deck features high tutor redundancy, robust reanimation lines, and independent combo routes.
