Deck overview

Sméagol, Helpful Guide commands a Golgari midrange deck that blends Ring-tempting mechanics, Wraith tribal synergy, and aristocrats-style value into an aggressive landfall engine. The primary plan revolves around deploying Sméagol early and repeatedly triggering the Ring tempts you ability using nine redundant copies of Nazgûl alongside cheap sacrifice spells and enchantments. Each temptation triggers Sméagol to systematically strip lands from opponents' libraries and place them onto your battlefield tapped. This steady resource theft fuels rapid mana acceleration, enabling explosive landfall token generation from cards like Scute Swarm and Eusocial Engineering while pumping your Nazgûl army into lethal deathtouch attackers. In the late game, the surplus mana converts into decisive game-ending spells such as Torment of Hailfire and Exsanguinate. The deck maintains strong resilience through varied graveyard recursion and heavy creature redundancy, though it remains vulnerable to early board sweepers and lacks instant-speed stack interaction.
