Smaug - Wicked Worm by Azeriel

Format: Commander

Commander: Smaug, Wicked Worm

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

Smaug, Wicked Worm is a treasure-matters commander whose main role is a card-draw engine: whenever a spell is cast with Treasure mana, you draw a card and lose 1 life. The deck's real win is snowballing Treasures into either a huge dragon beatdown or the alternate-win enchantments Revel in Riches and Hellkite Tyrant. Secondary plans use drain triggers from Reckless Fireweaver, Mayhem Devil, Marionette Master, and Mirkwood Bats to convert all those artifact tokens into life loss. The hidden Smaug package, especially There and Back Again plus Smaug the Impenetrable, provides additional burst treasure generation. The deck functions without the commander, but Smaug's draw trigger greatly accelerates the key turns.
