Deck overview

This deck is a classic Izzet spellslinger strategy led by Baral and Kari Zev. The commander provides consistent early tempo by either casting a smaller instant or sorcery for free whenever you cast your first spell each turn, or by creating a 2/1 First Mate Ragavan token to pressure life totals. The deck smooths its draws using cheap cantrips like Opt, Impulse, and A Little Chat, while building mana with cost reducers such as Goblin Electromancer and Mocking Sprite. In the mid-to-late game, the deck shifts from value generation into overwhelming board presence through token engines like Saheeli, Sublime Artificer, Empty the Warrens, and Ovika, Enigma Goliath, alongside the raw card advantage and damage of Niv-Mizzet, Parun. While the deck lacks fast mana and dedicated infinite combos, it delivers a consistent, interactive, and synergistic spellslinger game plan that wins through sustained combat swarms and incremental burn.
