Deck overview

This deck is an aggressive Mardu strategy centered on Kaalia of the Vast. The core plan involves deploying Kaalia on turn 3 or 4, equipping haste enablers like Lightning Greaves or Dragon Tempest, and attacking to cheat massive Angels, Demons, and Dragons onto the battlefield tapped and attacking. Heavy-hitting threats such as Utvara Hellkite, Archfiend of Despair, and Terror of Mount Velus dramatically accelerate combat damage, aiming to eliminate all opponents by turn 6. The deck features high-quality exile removal in Swords to Plowshares and Anguished Unmaking, along with attack-doubling synergy from Isshin, Two Heavens as One. However, the deck is heavily reliant on Kaalia to bypass the steep mana costs of its 6-to-8 CMC creature suite. With 30 lands and light ramp, hardcasting threats manually is slow if Kaalia is repeatedly answered.
