Deck overview

This deck is a Golgari Food Aristocrats and Midrange Control strategy commanded by Ygra, Eater of All. Ygra serves as the primary engine centerpiece, turning every other creature on the battlefield into a Food artifact while growing with +1/+1 counters whenever any Food hits the graveyard. The deck leverages this unique typing through devastating asymmetric interactions: mass artifact destruction spells like Creeping Corrosion and Fade from History function as one-sided creature board wipes that leave Ygra standing at lethal power. Supported by a robust ramp package, the deck consistently deploys Ygra on turn 4 and transitions into critical pressure by turn 5. Win conditions combine lethal commander combat damage with dense aristocrat life-drain engines featuring Mirkwood Bats, Marionette Apprentice, and Chatterfang, Squirrel General. While vulnerable to mass exile sweepers and lacking stack-based countermagic, built-in Ward protection and efficient instant-speed shields give the deck formidable resilience.
