Deck overview

This deck is a Gruul synergy build led by Agatha of the Vile Cauldron. The strategy focuses on pumping Agatha's power with +1/+1 counters, pump spells, and static buffs to drastically reduce the activation costs of creatures with powerful abilities. Early mana acceleration like Llanowar Elves, Nature's Lore, and Arcane Signet sets up Agatha on turn 2, followed by power enablers like Halana and Alena, Partners, Forgotten Ancient, and Ozolith, the Shattered Spire. Once Agatha reaches high power, activated abilities on creatures like Bhaal's Invoker, Flamewave Invoker, and Captivating Crew cost as little as one mana. This enables the deck to repeatedly burn opponents out or steal their boards in rapid bursts. Protective spells such as Gaea's Gift and Royal Treatment double as combat buffs, defending Agatha while increasing her cost reduction. Without Agatha, the deck falls back on an overrun stompy plan with trampling threats.
