Sauron, the Dark Lord is a midrange Grixis value deck that leans on amass Orcs and Ring-tempt triggers. The main game is to land Sauron, grow an Army, and use the Ring to discard-and-draw four while a protected Sauron makes three hits for commander damage. Secondary paths are a Wraith board with Nazgul and Lord of the Nazgul and a treasure plan with Smaug and the sagas. Maskwood Nexus is the glue: it makes every creature every type, so Army, Goblin, Orc, and Wraith payoffs overlap and Wizard's Staff can double Sauron's triggers. Sauron, Lord of the Rings acts as a hidden commander, providing amass 5, reanimation, and an alternate 9/9 threat.
