Format: Commander

Commander: Sauron, the Dark Lord

Deck overview

This Grixis control-reanimator deck, helmed by Sauron, the Dark Lord, leverages the ring-tempting mechanic to generate massive card advantage while amassing an Orc army. The primary game plan is to establish board control through efficient removal and counterspells, then deploy the commander to draw four cards per ring tempt. The deck can win through combat damage with Nazgul and other threats, but its most efficient win is an infinite-treasure combo using Warren Soultrader, Ruthless Technomancer, and a 1-power creature, with Terror of the Peaks as the payoff. The deep recursion suite (Reanimate, Living Death, Rise of the Dark Realms) provides resilience and the ability to grind out long games.
