Deck overview

This deck is an Orzhov lifegain and drain archetype led by Niv-Mizzet, Ghost Counsel. Its core strategy revolves around stabilizing early life totals through incremental lifegain permanents and passive stax elements such as Authority of the Consuls and Blind Obedience. In the mid-game, it leverages its commander and synergistic creatures like Welcoming Vampire and Enlightened Confidant to replenish resources while setting up redundant drain engines. The primary route to victory is executing the classic deterministic two-card infinite combo between a lifegain-on-damage piece (Exquisite Blood or Bloodthirsty Conqueror) and a damage-on-lifegain piece (Sanguine Bond, Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose, or Marauding Blight-Priest), instantly draining the entire table from 40 to 0 upon any single life total shift. Backed by solid spot removal and sweeping board wipes, the deck exerts steady board control while assembling its lethal combo.
