Deck overview

This Orzhov deck is commanded by Niv-Mizzet, Ghost Counsel, leveraging lifegain triggers to generate immense card advantage and convert health into a lethal resource. The early game focuses on deploying low-cost mana ramp and lifegain permanents such as Soul Warden, Authority of the Consuls, and Auriok Champion. Once the commander enters the battlefield, any life gained is immediately converted into card draw by paying life, quickly digging deep into the library. The mid-game transitions into aggressive drain attrition using powerhouses like Sheoldred, the Apocalypse, Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose, and Enduring Tenacity. Opponents face continuous chip damage from spellcasting and creature entries through tax pieces like Kambal, Consul of Allocation and Liesa, Shroud of Dusk. The deck closes games around Turn 7 using high-powered finishes such as Aetherflux Reservoir paired with Children of Korlis, or an explosive Exsanguinate. Comprehensive single-target removal and low-cost protection spells ensure resilient execution throughout multiplayer pods.
