Kalain by user3513578

Format: Commander

Commander: Kalain, Reclusive Painter

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

Kalain, Reclusive Painter leads a black-red Treasure-matters deck that swarms the battlefield with artifact tokens, converts them into extra mana, and wins through accelerated Dragon/beater combat or an infinite sacrifice loop. Kalain creates the first Treasure and makes every Treasure-spent creature enter with additional +1/+1 counters. The hidden commander is Smaug the Impenetrable: with Mayhem Devil and a drain payoff such as Disciple of the Vault or Mirkwood Bats, Smaug can be damaged endlessly to regenerate a Treasure while every opponent loses life. Secondary paths use Professional Face-Breaker, Storm-Kiln Artist, and Imskir Iron-Eater for card advantage. The deck remains playable without Kalain thanks to twenty-plus other Treasure sources, though it loses reach and early token value.
