Deck overview

An Abzan lifegain-and-life-loss deck built around Betor, Ancestor's Voice, this list converts every point of life gained into +1/+1 counters and every point lost into repeatable reanimation. A dense package of Soul Warden-style ETB lifegain creatures fuels counter-growing payoffs like Heliod, Sun-Crowned, Voice of the Blessed, Karlov of the Ghost Council, and Treebeard, Gracious Host, while pain lands, Dark Confidant, and Ripples of Undeath deliberately spend life to keep Betor returning cheap bodies each end step. The deck is a fair, incremental midrange grinder with no infinite combos: it stabilizes through lifegain, snowballs counters onto one giant threat, and closes with massive lifelink attacks, Amalia Benavides Aguirre's power-20 board wipe, or Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord's table drain. Its main vulnerabilities are the usual ones for a combat-resilience pile - board wipes and graveyard hate - but its life buffer and recursion make it hard to put away.
