Deck overview

This deck is a Sultai midrange strategy centered on Volrath, the Shapestealer. It uses counters to turn small utility creatures with powerful combat damage triggers into massive 7/5 threats. By copying creatures like Cephalid Constable, Cold-Eyed Selkie, or Spawnwrithe, Volrath turns combat connections into devastating board wipes, card draw bursts, and self-replicating armies. Supporting cards distribute -1/-1 and +1/+1 counters to enable Volrath's ability on both friendly and opposing creatures. The deck controls the board with asymmetric attrition from Toxrill, the Corrosive, Willbreaker, and Contagion Engine, while protecting its board with Heroic Intervention and Mutational Advantage. Without reliance on infinite combos or fast mana, the deck wins through relentless combat damage, commanding board states, and severe resource denial.
