Deck overview

This deck is an Orzhov lifegain and group slug engine commanded by Liesa, Shroud of Dusk. The primary strategy focuses on establishing early passive tax and lifegain permanents before deploying Liesa on Turn 4 or 5. Once on the battlefield, Liesa imposes a mandatory 2-life tax on every spell cast, breaking parity through her 5/5 flying lifelink body. The deck layers additional bleed effects like Kambal, Consul of Allocation, Rug of Smothering, Painful Quandary, and Polluted Bonds to punish standard game actions such as casting spells and playing lands. Opponents face compounding life loss that makes combo turns and spell-slinging lethal to themselves. Because Liesa pays commander tax using life rather than mana, the deck maintains exceptional engine resilience against removal, continually recasting its commander to grind opponents out before finishing them with combat damage, drain amplifiers like Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose, or a large Debt to the Deathless.
