Deck overview

This Grixis deck leverages Sauron, the Dark Lord as a commanding card engine and combat threat. Early turns focus on accelerating mana through signets, rituals, and utility artifacts to cast Sauron ahead of curve on Turn 4 or 5. Once on the battlefield, Sauron's passive abilities generate a steadily growing Orc Army whenever opponents cast spells, while punishing single-target removal with a brutal Ward cost. When an Army connects in combat, the Ring tempts you, allowing you to discard spent cards and refill your hand with four new ones. The deck converts this massive card advantage into victory using high-impact combat finishers like Embercleave and Bulk Up, alongside board-wide burn spells such as Chandra's Ignition and The Great Goblin triggers. Backup plans feature heavy-hitting legendary creatures like Ozai, the Phoenix King and value engines like Archmage Emeritus.
