Deck overview

This deck is a mono-black Voltron and attrition strategy centered on Whiplash, Vengeful Engineer. Whiplash deploys on Turn 1 and enables early attacks that drain each opponent and gain life whenever he swings while equipped. The 99 features 27 Equipment pieces, providing extreme functional redundancy for triggering Whiplash without needing dedicated tutors. While the setup comes online very early, turning chip drain into game-ending pressure takes several turns of mana investment into equip costs and power boosters like Cranial Plating and Lashwrithe. Opponents face steady global life drain alongside single-target commander damage. Because the deck lacks infinite combos or mass evasion, closing the game requires multiple combat steps across the table. Solid creature removal protects your life total, while backup beaters like Armory Automaton ensure the deck can fight through repeated commander removal.
