Deck overview

This mono-black deck is helmed by Sheoldred, the Apocalypse, turning the fundamental game mechanic of card draw into a deadly asymmetric weapon. The deck aims to accelerate Sheoldred onto the battlefield by Turn 3 using efficient mana rocks and dark rituals, followed immediately by continuous draw punishers like Teferi's Puzzle Box, Font of Mythos, and Underworld Dreams. As opponents draw cards, Sheoldred drains 2 life per draw while continuously replenishing the pilot's life total, turning symmetric draw effects into a rapid lethal clock. The deck backs up this attrition strategy with explosive burst options, including Peer into the Abyss and an infinite life-drain loop between Exquisite Blood and Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose or Sanguine Bond. Strong stax pieces like Opposition Agent and Orcish Bowmasters suppress opponent searches and draw engines. While vulnerable to instant-speed removal and lacking stack interaction, the deck maintains high redundancy, potent black tutors, and immense lifegain resilience.
