Deck overview

This Abzan deck is helmed by Doran, Besieged by Time, a commander that discounts high-toughness creatures and dynamically boosts attacking and blocking creatures based on the difference between their power and toughness. The list leverages oversized defensive statlines—such as Unhallowed Phalanx, Ghalta the Immovable, and Slumbering Walker—turning them into offensive juggernauts. Redundant effects like Ancient Lumberknot and Tapestry Warden ensure that combat damage scales with these massive toughness values. Ramp and color fixing bridge the deck into its midgame curve, where Doran and several stout bodies form an imposing wall that converts into a rapid combat clock. Support pieces like Brawn and Rogue's Passage provide essential evasion to push through chump blockers, while a dense suite of 1-mana and 2-mana protective spells shields critical attackers from targeted removal and destroy-based board wipes.
