Deck overview

Sergeant John Benton is a hasty combat commander whose combat-damage trigger can generate a very large hand when paired with double strike and pump effects. The main setup uses cheap green acceleration, casts Sergeant John Benton early, then deploys Flaming Fist or Duelist's Heritage. Once an attack connects, the deck draws enough cards to keep finding protection and combat tricks. The deck has strong creature protection and useful permanent removal, but its interaction is mostly reactive and its mana is heavily dependent on green creatures. The central weakness is finishing: Sergeant John Benton must attack one opponent at a time, the deck has no dependable early evasion, and the double-strike sources are not tutored. A successful attack creates a strong advantage, but it is not a compact win. The deck is therefore a focused casual combat engine rather than a competitive combo or stax strategy.
