Saurons Orc Army by user6755514

Format: Commander

Commander: Sauron, the Dark Lord

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This is a Grixis amass deck built entirely around growing one Army token and riding Sauron, the Dark Lord's incidental triggers to absurd card advantage. Sauron's Ward-Sacrifice a legendary artifact or legendary creature is easy to feed with this list's legendary density, and his two passive abilities do the heavy lifting: every opponent spell grows the Army, and every Ring temptation turns into "discard your hand, draw four." Call of the Ring, Birthday Escape, Ringsight, and Inherited Envelope are the temptation package, while a dense cluster of amass spells - Warg Rider, Dunland Crebain, Saruman's Trickery, Summons of Saruman, Assault on Osgiliath - turn the token into a 20/20+ finisher. Wins come from an unblockable double-strike alpha via Rogue's Passage and The Black Gate, with The Great Goblin and Orcish Bowmasters providing burn reach and Sauron, the Necromancer / Sauron, Lord of the Rings as recursion backups. It is a slow, grindy midrange deck that snowballs rather than combos.
