Deck overview

This Mardu deck utilizes Kaalia of the Vast to bypass the heavy mana costs of large Angels, Demons, and Dragons, dropping them directly onto the battlefield tapped and attacking as early as turn 3 or 4. Supported by an efficient suite of 2-mana rocks and haste enablers like Lightning Greaves and Dragon Tempest, the deck aims to establish immediate airborne pressure. Once Kaalia connects, payoffs like Gisela, Blade of Goldnight, Drakuseth, Maw of Flames, and Aurelia, the Warleader accelerate the damage clock, while disruptive beaters like Archfiend of Depravity and Serra's Emissary lock down opponent counterplay. The list incorporates robust single-target protection and spell redirection to ensure Kaalia survives her initial attack window, alongside backup cheat engines such as Sneak Attack and Quicksilver Amulet. While vulnerable to focused removal targeting Kaalia before combat, the sheer density of game-ending threats and redundant reanimation ensures sustained lethal pressure through the midgame.
