Deck overview

This deck is a Dimir control and combo list helmed by Phenax, God of Deception. The primary strategy leverages high-toughness creatures like Caelorna, Coral Tyrant, The Ancient One, and Charix, the Raging Isle as defensive walls that double as tap-activated mill engines under Phenax. The deck accelerates into play with 2-CMC mana rocks and consistent land fixing, assembling its commander and defensive line on Turn 4. On Turn 5, it presents critical game-ending threats by resolving Eater of the Dead for a self-untapping mill loop, or assembling the compact Duskmantle Guildmage + Mindcrank infinite damage and mill combo. Supported by robust card advantage engines like The One Ring and Rhystic Study, efficient interaction suites including Fierce Guardianship and Cyclonic Rift, and targeted redirect protection via Spellskite, the deck effectively stabilizes against aggressive boards before cleanly emptying opposing libraries by Turn 6.
