Deck overview

This Golgari midrange deck is commanded by Blech, Loafing Pest, uniting five distinct kindred types—Pests, Bats, Insects, Snakes, and Spiders—under an aggressive lifegain and +1/+1 counter strategy. The deck curves low-cost typal creatures and mana ramp into a Turn 3 commander deployment, swiftly triggering team-wide +1/+1 counter growth via attack and entry lifegain triggers. It scales into the mid-game with powerful token generators and anthem effects like Doubling Season, Beledros Witherbloom, and Aatchik, Emerald Radian. Card selection is reinforced by premier black tutors including Vampiric Tutor and Emeritus of Woe // Demonic Tutor. The deck interacts through efficient deathtouch blockers, artifact/enchantment removal like Pest Infestation, and asymmetric sacrifice triggers from The Serpent Society. While vulnerable to mass exile wipes, the list features robust graveyard recursion and independent high-end threats to grind out victories through decisive, overwhelming combat steps.
