Gaius van Baelsar by Yggdrasill274

Format: Commander

Commander: Gaius van Baelsar

Bracket: 2

Deck overview

Mono-black aristocrats deck that turns creature deaths into life loss. The primary plan is to establish a sacrifice outlet, a death-payoff creature, and token/recursion engines, then drain all opponents. Secondary paths include Gray Merchant of Asphodel devotion swings and Syr Konrad, the Grim grinding value. Gaius van Baelsar is a flexible edict that clears tokens, large creatures, or enchantments; he is not the engine. There is no hidden commander; Ayara, First of Locthwain and Syr Konrad act as additional legendary payoffs. The deck has no tutors, so it relies on heavy draw and recursion to assemble the Ogre Slumlord + Pitiless Plunderer + Reassembling Skeleton loop.
