Deck overview

This deck is a classic mono-black tribal swarm strategy centered on Marrow-Gnawer and 30 copies of Relentless Rats. The game plan focuses on curving out identical Rats on early turns, deploying Marrow-Gnawer on Turn 5 to grant the swarm evasion via fear, and untapping on Turn 6 to multiply the Rat count exponentially. While the deck possesses immense functional redundancy in its creature base, it operates without early 0-2 CMC mana acceleration, relying on natural land drops to cast its threats. Its interaction suite is primarily composed of sorcery-speed creature sweepers with minimal instant-speed disruption or noncreature removal. Protection is limited to a handful of equipment cards, leaving the board vulnerable to sweepers. High-ceiling artifact enablers like Thrumming Stone can instantly dump the entire Rat package onto the battlefield, but ordinary games close via unblockable combat damage over two response cycles.
