Deck overview

This deck is a Dimir Bad Gifts and Forced Combat strategy commanded by Jon Irenicus, Shattered One. The central game plan revolves around casting undercosted creatures with severe negative drawbacks—such as Steel Golem, Phyrexian Soulgorger, and Desecration Elemental—and donating them to opponents at the end step. Jon makes these creatures permanently goaded, buffs their power with two +1/+1 counters, and gives them 'this creature can't be sacrificed,' forcing opponents to attack one another while suffering devastating upkeep penalties or casting locks. In return, Jon draws cards whenever those creatures attack, providing consistent card advantage. The deck protects its life total with pillowfort staples like Propaganda, Glacial Chasm, and No Mercy, alongside efficient counterspells like Mana Drain and Force of Negation. As opponents whittle each other down, the deck finishes the game through combat attrition or high-impact late-game sorceries like Rise of the Dark Realms.
