Deck overview

This is an Esper spellslinger/control deck helmed by Y'shtola, Night's Blessed, built around casting noncreature spells with mana value 3 or greater. Each such spell deals 2 damage to each opponent and gains you 2 life, and whenever any player loses 4+ life in a turn, Y'shtola draws you a card at the end step - turning every drain effect into card advantage. The deck packs an unusually deep suite of spellslinger payoffs (Talrand, Sky Summoner, Monastery Mentor, Archmage Emeritus, Haughty Djinn, Professor Onyx, and more) so that nearly any draw advances the same plan. It wins through incremental life-drain, a growing token army, and a big Exsanguinate finisher, protected by a strong counterspell and free-spell suite. It is a grindy, value-oriented control deck rather than a fast combo deck.
