Explorers of the Deep - Merfolk

Format: Commander

Commander: Kumena, Tyrant of Orazca

Bracket: 4

Deck overview

Kumena, Tyrant of Orazca leads a Simic Merfolk deck that wins by building a wide, increasingly large Merfolk army. The primary plan is to deploy cheap Merfolk, reuse anthems and +1/+1 counter engines, then convert the board into card advantage via Kumena's tap ability before finishing with an unblockable alpha strike (Herald of Secret Streams, islandwalk lords, or trample from Zegana). Secondary paths include token generation through Deeproot Waters and Emperor Mihail II, and a landfall/explore subtheme with Hakbal and Tatyova. Kumena functions as both the draw engine and counter sink; no hidden commander exists. The deck can out-value and out-grow opponents, but its all-creature win condition is vulnerable to mass removal.
