Deck overview

This deck is a classic Golgari Aristocrats and Reanimator strategy piloted by Meren of Clan Nel Toth. The game plan revolves around deploying cheap utility creatures, sacrifice outlets, and self-sacrificing ramp such as Sakura-Tribe Elder in the opening turns. Once Meren enters on turn 4, every sacrificed creature accumulates experience counters, turning Meren's end-step trigger into a reanimation engine. The deck establishes control by repeatedly reanimating edict creatures like Fleshbag Marauder and Plaguecrafter, while Sadistic Hypnotist dismantles opposing hands. Life totals are drained through recurring Gray Merchant of Asphodel triggers, Blood Artist, and Zulaport Cutthroat, or crushed under an expanding token army buffed by Mazirek, Kraul Death Priest and Tendershoot Dryad. While the deck is resilient against creature destruction because experience counters persist on the player, it is vulnerable to dedicated graveyard exile and lacks instant-speed stack interaction.
