Deck overview

This deck is an optimized mono-black aristocrats and stax engine helmed by Avacyn, Angel of Horror. The deck focuses on generating asymmetric resource advantages through sacrifice outlets, recurring attrition pieces, and massive mana generation. Early turns establish mana acceleration using Sol Ring, Dark Ritual, Lake of the Dead, and Cabal Coffers. The mid-game deploys oppressive resource denial via Braids, Cabal Minion and Smokestack, supported by disposable token generators like Bitterblossom and Tevesh Szat, Doom of Fools. As opponents lose permanents to forced sacrifices, Avacyn, Angel of Horror breaks parity by returning your dying nontoken creatures at each end step. Card flow is maintained through powerful draw engines like Skullclamp and Ayara, First of Locthwain. The deck closes out games by funneling vast mana reserves into a lethal Torment of Hailfire, resolving a table-flipping Living Death, or assembling a fast 20/20 Marit Lage via Dark Depths and Thespian's Stage.
