Volrath, the Shapestealer - EXP2 by Lazenberry

Format: Commander

Commander: Volrath, the Shapestealer

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This is a Sultai value/attrition deck helmed by Volrath, the Shapestealer, built around two interlocking engines: -1/-1 counter generation and shapeshifter/copy synergies. Volrath's combat trigger spreads -1/-1 counters, which feed Nest of Scarabs (insect tokens), Necroskitter (theft), Massacre Girl, Known Killer (draw), and Toxrill, the Corrosive (board control). His activated ability then copies any countered creature - usually the deck's own haymakers like Old Gnawbone, Ancient Bronze Dragon, or Colossal Grave-Reaver - as a 7/5. The deck wins through combat damage from oversized flyers and a slow, grindy -1/-1 counter lock, with a deep clone suite (Progenitor Mimic, Faerie Artisans, Bramble Sovereign, Cephalid Facetaker) providing redundancy. There are no infinite combos; this is a midrange deck that out-values opponents and closes with big, evasive bodies.
