Deck overview

This mono-black aristocrats deck harnesses Mortarion, Daemon Primarch to convert life loss into an army of 2/2 black Astartes Warrior tokens with menace. The strategy revolves around weaponizing life as a resource using self-damaging enablers like Wall of Blood, Unspeakable Symbol, and Black Market Connections, alongside card draw engines like Dark Confidant. Big mana engines including Cabal Coffers, Crypt Ghast, and Nirkana Revenant provide the black mana necessary to cast Mortarion and fund large end-step token payments. Once assembled, the deck closes games through dual attack vectors: swarming opponents with evasive menace creatures and draining life totals through aristocrat payoffs like Blood Artist, Zulaport Cutthroat, Ayara, First of Locthwain, Thrasher Brute, and Mirkwood Bats. Efficient spot removal and board sweepers maintain board control while life gain from lifelink and drain effects replenishes life totals for continued engine operation.
