Deck overview

This deck is a classic Mono-Black Aristocrats strategy commanded by Ayara, First of Locthwain. The game plan revolves around deploying cheap black creatures, recurring skeletons, and Zombie token generators to exploit Ayara's drain trigger upon entering the battlefield. Ayara acts as both an engine payoff and a reliable card-draw sacrifice outlet. The deck transitions into the midgame by generating token swarms via Grave Titan, Diregraf Colossus, and Endless Ranks of the Dead, while amplifying attrition with Syr Konrad, the Grim and Mirkwood Bats. It reaches critical pressure around Turn 6 and finishes opponents by Turn 8 through wide combat swings and explosive drain sequences, particularly with Plague of Vermin. While the deck possesses resilient graveyard recursion and redundant drain triggers, it is constrained by a lack of stack interaction, vulnerability to mass exile effects, and an inability to answer opposing noncreature permanents.
