Deck overview

This is a mono-black discard-and-sacrifice control deck helmed by Tergrid, God of Fright, built to weaponize the classic "rack" strategy into a theft engine. The core loop is simple: force opponents to discard cards and sacrifice permanents, then use Tergrid's trigger to reanimate those cards directly onto your battlefield. The deck runs a dense suite of symmetrical discard outlets like Burglar Rat, Cunning Lethemancer, and Mindslicer, alongside sacrifice effects like Smallpox and Innocent Blood, all of which become one-sided when Tergrid is online. Payoffs like Waste Not, Geth's Grimoire, and Tinybones, Trinket Thief convert the discard into mana, cards, and life. The primary win conditions are grinding out overwhelming board advantage through stolen permanents, then closing with X-spells like Torment of Hailfire or Death Cloud once Cabal Coffers and Crypt Ghast generate explosive mana. The deck is heavily commander-dependent-without Tergrid, the symmetrical effects are merely symmetrical.
